Felix & Oscar’s has been Des Moines’ destination for authentic Chicago-style deep dish pizza since we opened our doors in 1975.

A few things may have changed in the past 50 years, but our core values of superior pizza, quality food, and consistent service have remained constant.

Our Merle Hay Road restaurant is a family-friendly community fixture, featuring TVs for watching the big games, meeting rooms with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, and weekly trivia nights. Our expansive and quality catering menu has made us a go-to option throughout the Des Moines metro for weddings, business events, and more. We offer delivery and order-ahead options for our food, making it as convenient as ever to enjoy your local favorites.

Our History

F&O's is more than just a restaurant. It’s the dream of two men who have worked from the ground up to bring quality pizza to the people of Des Moines. Starting from nothing and ending with Des Moines' best pizza, the story of F&O's is the true American dream.

Our restaurant was founded in 1975 by Mark Zingerman, Mr. Z. A young entrepreneur with a love of Chicago-style pizza, Mr. Z started F&O's with one goal in mind: to bring Des Moines its first — and best — deep dish pizza restaurant.

Mr. Z began with a small storefront in the Drake neighborhood in 1975. He followed that in 1977 by opening our current location on Merle Hay Road. That same year, he hired Tom Morgan, a young busboy. As Mr. Z worked hard to make sure we had the best pizza in Des Moines, Tom worked to learn every facet of the business. Tom went from busboy to eventual co-owner of F&O's. For over 40 years, Tom and Mr. Z worked together every day to serve great pizza in a family-friendly environment at a good price.

In 2020, Mr. Z retired, and Tom took over the entirety of F&O's. Alongside his general manager, Jason Viers, and Tom's two children, Katie and Tommy — all of whom also began at F&O's as teenagers — Tom is still here every day, ensuring that Des Moines' original deep dish pizza remains Des Moines' best.
